About AMDY
AMDY is an AI answering machine detection (AMD) service that tells outbound dialers, in real time, whether a live person or a voicemail answered a call, for ViciDial, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Issabel call centers.
What AMDY does
Real-time AMD classification
The core of AMDY is a trained model that listens to the acoustic signature of what answers a call, not a transcript of what is said, and classifies it as a live person or a voicemail in under 200 milliseconds at 99% accuracy. It runs on the call path of ViciDial, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Issabel dialers.
Compliance & detection logs
Every classification is written to a queryable, per-call detection log, alongside a compliance audit log built for TCPA record-keeping (HIPAA under a signed BAA, GDPR exports on the Scale plan). You can export the full history, not a rolled-up summary.
Dashboards & carrier analytics
A real-time dashboard shows detection volume, accuracy, and anomalies as they happen, broken down per carrier so you can see where false-answer rates spike by carrier and area code. Growth and Scale add custom detection thresholds you can tune per campaign.
Dialer integrations & SDKs
Install scripts cover ViciDial, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Issabel with a single shell command (see integration guides). For custom builds, AMDY publishes open-source SDKs for TypeScript, Python, C#, Ruby, and Rust, plus a Docker CLI, on GitHub.
What makes AMDY different
You pay for detections, not servers
Every plan, including the free Sandbox tier, allows unlimited ViciDial servers. The bill is a monthly base plus a flat per-detection overage rate that drops as you scale, from $0.00025/detection on Starter to $0.00010/detection on Scale, so adding another dialer box never adds another line item.
Standalone, not bundled into one carrier
AMD built into a specific carrier’s voice API only classifies calls that run over that carrier’s own network. AMDY runs alongside whatever carrier or SIP trunk you already use, so switching carriers does not mean switching AMD providers. See AMDY vs Twilio Voice AMD.
No SIP-gateway swap required
Gateway-based AMD, like Khomp, classifies at the SIP layer before the call reaches your dialer, which means routing calls through their hardware. AMDY classifies in place, alongside your existing dialer and carrier setup. See AMDY vs Khomp.
Filters what answers, not just who is dialed
Tools like OutboundIQ improve caller-ID reputation so more people pick up in the first place. AMDY solves the other half of the problem: once someone or something answers, it tells you which one it was. See AMDY vs OutboundIQ.
Acoustic classification, not timing heuristics
The stock answering-machine detection in Asterisk (and by extension ViciDial) times pauses and beeps, a method that misreads live humans and voicemail on modern, compressed call audio. AMDY classifies the actual acoustic signature of what picked up, with a trained model instead of a stopwatch.
Who uses AMDY
- Single-room outbound call centers running ViciDial, under 500K detections a month.
- Multi-room BPOs dialing millions of calls a month across several dialer servers — the plan most teams pick.
- Enterprise BPOs and dialer operators at high volume, tens of millions of detections a month.
- Resellers and co-managed BPO programs that want a white-labeled AMD layer under their own brand.
- Any Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or Issabel shop still on stock timing-based AMD and looking to replace it.
The team behind AMDY
AMDY was founded in January 2022 by Nikolai Boutvine, out of running outbound ViciDial infrastructure in production. Operating real dialers exposed the weakness of the stock answering machine detection built into Asterisk: timing heuristics that misread live humans and voicemail on modern, compressed call audio. AMDY was built to replace those heuristics with a trained model.
The team is small by design — three people building and running AMDY end to end, based in Pontiac, Michigan. Reach the founder directly at [email protected] or on LinkedIn. AMDY also posts on Dev.to and launched publicly on Tiny Launch.
How AMDY works
Getting started
Sign up for the free Sandbox plan, no card required, and the dashboard hands you a one-line install command for your ViciDial, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or Issabel server. Detections start showing up in the real-time dashboard as soon as the install script finishes.
Support & communication
Email [email protected] — replies typically come within an hour during US business hours. You can also book a call, including a live demo against your own ViciDial setup, or reach the founder directly.
Who you will work with as you grow
Starter includes a 24-hour email SLA. Growth adds priority live chat with a 4-hour SLA and a monthly optimization review. Scale adds a dedicated success pod and a quarterly business review with engineering. Partner customers get 24/7 escalation with solution engineering.

Frequently asked questions
What does AMDY do?
AMDY listens to the acoustic signature of what answers an outbound call and tells the dialer, in under 200 milliseconds, whether a live person or a voicemail picked up. It replaces the timing-based answering machine detection built into Asterisk, ViciDial, FreeSWITCH, and Issabel.
Which dialers and platforms does AMDY support?
ViciDial, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Issabel, each with a one-line install script. For custom integrations, AMDY also publishes open-source SDKs for TypeScript, Python, C#, Ruby, and Rust, plus a Docker CLI.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Sandbox plan is $0/month for up to 50,000 detections, no card required, with a hard cap so there's never a surprise bill.
How is AMDY priced?
A monthly base fee plus a flat rate per detection once you pass the plan's included volume. Every plan, including Sandbox, allows unlimited ViciDial servers — you never pay per server or per IP.
Do I need to switch carriers or SIP trunks to use AMDY?
No. Unlike SIP-gateway-based competitors such as Khomp, AMDY classifies calls alongside your existing carrier and dialer setup, so you keep the telephony you already have.
Does AMDY help with TCPA, HIPAA, or GDPR compliance?
AMDY keeps a compliance audit log and a queryable per-call detection export on every paid plan, HIPAA coverage under a signed BAA, and GDPR-ready exports on the Scale plan. It supports your compliance program; it is not a substitute for one.
How do I get support?
Email [email protected] — replies typically come within an hour during US business hours — or book a call through the contact page. Growth and Scale plans add priority live chat and a dedicated success pod.
Who founded AMDY, and when?
Nikolai Boutvine founded AMDY in January 2022, after running outbound ViciDial infrastructure in production and finding that the built-in Asterisk answering-machine detection misread live people and voicemail on modern, compressed call audio.
